Yes we did have some rain - if only 52 points - 13mm. Also we were really lucky to have a lovely visitor for a few days - Miss Claire. Miss Claire looked after the two little darlings while we did some mustering and branding and vacinnating - and as you mothers would all know she was an absolute god send!!! Not having to have the kids complaining about it being too hot, I'm hungry etc etc was quite peaceful and me being the worry wort that I am - that I have to have them right there with us - instead I was able to concentrate on what I was doing in the yards which means less injuries!!
The little Dh's of course loooooooved her and didn't want her to go home. They made button necklaces, merinques, drawings, played monopoly, etc etc. She was absolutely wonderful and we can't wait to have her back again!!! With no family close and no daycare within 60km help like this is very much loooved out here.
Shearing is supposed to start at "Nickavilla" Quilpie but with rain above them the creeks have come down and sheep are a little bit hard to get across the creek now to shear and if it rains this afternoon shearing will be off - much to the displeasure of Mum & Dad especially seeing musterers, flying musterers, shearers etc are all there!!
We have been pretty busy with cattle work, visitors to the shop, doing the kid thing, family visitors, bookwork, organising stuff for the open day, gardening etc.
This week is trucking cattle to the feedlot, going to Roma, taking the little darlings to a Contemporary Art Kids tour at the Gallery in Miles, Dulacca School Centenary, Cooking for it and organising to start school - where did the 6 weeks go. I could have them here for a lot longer - not really looking forward to starting the school thing again - that's me not the kids.
Anyway must go, watering the garden, hanging out washing and feeding animals to do!
