Accuquilt Cutters

Well after much excitement at the WHK  Craft in the Country Day here at "Toomba" we have been overwhelmed for the interest and keeness to purchase these fantastic machines. As mentioned in a blog a while ago I have been investigating these for a while but wanted to see them "in the flesh" just to see if they were as good as they said! And my verdict was of course YES!!!

They now have the Go Cutter and the Go Baby which now allows the option of those who have the occassional use and the larger Go for those who would use it more often! The only difference being is basically the Go Baby cuts smaller dies - eg only up to around 5 1/4" is the largest in width but it is still able to cut the full lenth 2 1/2" jelly rolls (x 2) by your number of layers!

To give you some guide the Go Cutter is worth around $499 and th Baby $239 but if you are interested we are more than happy to do up a quote for you specific to your needs. They come with a wide range of dies which start at around $37 and your mats for $21 and the dies last quite a long time as it is the mat that requires replacing first.

The Go Cutter also comes with one die and one cutting mat to get you started for FREE!

The range of dies is increasing all the time and it truly reduces your cutting time up to 90%. Not only does it save you time but it helps those with hand problems such as arthritis or those who struggle with a rotary cutter PLUS it is great for the kids to use as it is just so easy and SAFE!

 

This is the Go Baby! the Go looks nearly the same but is just larger.

Some of the dies include traditional block pieces such as squares, triangles, rectangles, half squares etc plus of course there are strips from 1" upwards, jelly roll strip sizes, applique motifs such as baby bear shapes, flowers, stems & leaves, Ricky Tims Arabesque designs, circles, hearts, stars plus much more.

More new Bits

 

This is one of the latest additions to Clover's flower makers like the yo yo etc. This is the Kanzashi Flower in the large size and I just Loooove it - so thankyou Di one of our Clover Club ladies for whipping this up the other day out of scraps!

 

 

The fantastic Sewline products have been around for a while now but they have added to their products - they now feature the glue pen as recomended by Sue Daley of Patchwork with Busy Fingers which is great for many uses but particuarly good for paper piecing, the aqua eraser which has like a fountain pen workings with a nib for removing marks in a gentle more accurate way, the original ceramic pencil with a multitide of coloured leads but the trio which has black, white ceramic and a tracer all in one. Plus of course they now have

AIR ERASABLE pens - which disappear after a couple of days and the full length eraser! Everything you could need! For further information on the products and instructions go to the link below!

Another gorgeous Moda Range - Pom Pom De PAris - and just look at the divine border stripe!!!

 

And another that is sure to be a favourite - Summer Breeze from Moda - now we are to have precuts with this - they are just missing in action at the moment! So fresh and you can't beat blue and white for freshness!

Clover Club Bits

We haven't had an update on what the girls have been doing of late so I thought I would put together a "montage" of a few visits for you. Please forgive my blogging as the worse I feel the less I am typing but I have come back into this post to see if I can give a little more info.

 

Karen's Moda Martinique

 

Neitta's Back to the Farm McKenna Ryan BOM done through the Cow Paddock Shop This is totally in batiks and is raw edged applique - and is to die for. Just gorgeous.

 

This is the hanabi star done with a template by Karen which won champion piece of needlwork at Tara Show !!!

 

One of our new clover club Member's "OUT OF AFRICA" Quilt - by Megan. While Megan did do an amazing patchwork jacket some time ago, now through a "crossing of paths" she is well on the way to being as addicted as the rest of us. She has used some amazing Brandon Mably Fabric with her own fabric she picked up while in Africa which was - and I do apologise for not remembering the exact name but it is the apparel the tribal women wear. She cut this up for the outside on point border. It will be a quilt that will remind them of their wonderful trip over there for years to come!

 

Gwen's flood quilt donation which she made from her scraps and a simple yet very effective pattern has made this a beautiful and heartfelt gift for someone.

Yes 2 of the 3 pre-quilted fabrics have arrived - of couse not the one in particular that I wanted but alas at least some did come!

Toomba Bits

Yes we are getting back to the daily grind after Craft in the country so I hope to have some updates of new "stuff" that has come in on the blog today - Yes Easter Sunday. The reasons being is we have no visitors coming, the kids have been visited by the easter bunny and I am suffering from one of those lovely 24 hour bugs and all that entails. So I dearly hope it is only 24 hours as it started mid afternoon at my friend Mel's house - poor girl I do hope I haven't "germed" her place.

So while the vomiting has eased somewhat I am feeling rather ordinary - so am dressed, tidied the kitchen, made beds and unrugged the horses and swept the kitchen but that is about it. Not feeling very enthused - so I thought would vegetate here and blog. Plus I just couldn't put up with "can we have friends over - please..............????" from the little darlings - "No I'm sick" So DH has gone cutting posts  and the kids are making a cubby on the roof of the old weatherboard garden shed in the houseyard - yes they have a matress, sheets and a ladder to get up and down - and you are right - NO I am not looking!!! Better not to I think - they have done this before and I think it is better than trying to make one in the tree. The tree ended up with a matress in the fork with shovel handles poked up into it to hold it up - so you can see why the roof seems much more safe?????

Yesterday the kids and I took the horses for a ride out the front road - as it is too wet here at the moment to take them anywhere else - especially when their horses have the ability in putting it over them and not walking through water etc. So we went down the road and on the way back we thought that we would go back past the front gate into the property and head the other way - big mistake - I should have known One little so and so of a pony decided to head for home - if I had had a rifle I would have shot the little b.....d. So Little Miss H had her first buster at age 7! I must admit the whole feeling of helplessness - I contemplated... and tried to get closer to her on my horse but I pulled up as I could see if could make matters worse - which then allowed  my new horse to throw in a few pig roots which then had me hanging on - perhaps a little too tightly with spurs which she didn't appreciate and continued on until I somewhat relaxed on her and then she stopped - all the while worrying where little Miss had ended up as last I saw was her turning the house yard fence .

So now that I have oodle more grey hairs, she fell off near the fuel tanks and luckily the you beaut breakaway stirrups did their job and she came off quite well - if there is such a thing when you fall off and the darling little so and so pony was standing at the yard quite content and eating - and no I haven't shot it - yet! I don't think I could ever do it but mother bear instincts make you really want to when they put your little darlings at risk. Strange thing is we have mustered with her many times and she has never tried it but this was the first time we had gone out the front gate - so I know not to do that again.

Meanwhile the horse of the year of Master L's just poked along behind us and trotted up to us all without any dramas - thank goodness!

So that was the morming and then the bug in the afternoon so I guess you could say I have had an eventful couple of days - which mind you I would swap. So now I have today, Anzac day ceremony tomorrow and pony club meeting hopefully back to ride my horse, Tuckshop wednesday and football & Netball training on Wednesday in Miles Thursday I MUST ride my horse as we are going in a draft on Saturday at Condamine and Friday going to Roma to put the car in and hopefully look at a paddock. So Saturday of course is the draft and the kids will go in to Football firstly in the morniing at Miles. So that's about it really a fairly full on week.

Oh and of course Tuesday we have the lovely ladies coming for a "catch up" clover club!

Am feeling rather sluggish so don't quite know how this is all going to happen but no doubt I will take a cement pill and all will be fine!

WHK Craft in The Country - over for another year!

Yes after much organisation and wonderment over the weather the WHK Craft in the Country was again a success with no rain in sight and a glorious day!

We had very good attendance numbers after our little false start at Roma and so had a great day catching up with old friends and making new ones!! This year with the addition of a good season and the garden looking much improved we took the liberty in hanging many of the quilts throughout the houseyard as well as in the paddock.

A huge thankyou to all of my helpers - Mum , Virginia, Neitta, Karen, Jeff and to all of those who travelled near and far who attended. Thankyou also to Megan who kindly supplied the following photos - as unfortunately I had taken none!!!

The WHK Quilt of Love Challenge again was a huge success with 60 quilts being donated and the Viewers Choice Award was a 3 way tie which was then decided by a lucky draw with 1st Lorna Goodland - Theodore, 2nd Karen Rafton - Meandarra & 3rd Robyn Hockey - Mitchell.

There were lots of lucky draws throughout the day with info sessions, demos and games. The Dulacca Kindy girls again did a fantastic job with the catering providing some very yummy bits & pieces.

We even had a few "stayers" that we loved having on an overnight sleep over in the shop!!!

So thankyou to all again for supporting the day and I know from much feedback that it has inspired many to pick up their sewing and be even more creative - if that is possible!!

Thankyou also to the lovely Injune ladies who gave me a huge surprise by arriving with a gorgeous flower basket (pic below)!!!

Not to mention the fun & frivolity - but don't worry we will do it all again next year!!!

AND I will have lots more posts over the next week with new fabrics, jelly rolls, PLUS YES THE ACCUQUILT CUTTER HAS ARRIVED - JUST IN TIME FOR THE CRAFT IN THE COUNTRY DAY!! So there were a number of ladies that took advantage of the fantastic deals we had on the day for these machines. We have in fact sold out but have another order on the way - so if you are interested in me bringing a machine along to your next workshop or would like further information on these wonderful time saving & accurate devices please let me know!

Plus of course we had the tremendous sewing machine deals which a number of ladies took advantage of also!!!
