Ban on Live Export - the good and the bad!

Yes again I feel I have to comment - especially seeing I was definately on my "soapbox" on this one.  I, like most of you was absolutely outraged at the conditions that these animals were shown in However - it is coming to light that these were not a "blanket inidicator" of images of all abbatoirs but apparently an isolated eleven out of 700 odd processing facilities.

 Now don't be confused by my statement - to me 1 doing this is too many however if there is anyone who we can believe - and in this environment it is difficult to source the truth! but inevitably most of the Australian Public may have been mislead as to just how widespread this cruelty is!

I am not changing my view that live cattle export should have been banned - but to those doing these atrocities - NOT if they are doing things correctly and humanely.

AND most importantly - attack the problem with a logical and common sense approach - think about  the cattle at the docks/in transit committed to contracts already signed, think about the affects on the family companies and the workers along the full extent of the supply change and without going in guns blazing that it further harms our industry and our people AND our Cattle use some common sense when making this huge decisions.

I still hold the MLA to blame for much of the problem - I realise they are not the ones doing these atrocities personally but they did have knowledge and should have known that it would only be a matter of time before the world soon knew of these abusers - they did know what was happening and be assured many of you don't know my previous work history but I have witnessed the pull by some of the large companies who are able to gain huge voting rights through "transactions" between their own companies, pastoral & processing chains "buying votes" so to speak.

The MLA should have seen this coming and had strategies in place, not to mention working towards alternative markets for the huge amount of cattle in the north.

There are many very enlightening and informative letters circulating via email on the web showing the various sides to this issue and I encourage you to read as many as you can as it will continue to open everyone's eyes into this very complex debate.

Encourage everyone to be part of the EAT AUSTRALIAN BEEF EVENT ON JUNE 17th!! As unfortunately my prediction  (and it wouldn't take Einstein to work it out!) is that this footage is having an affect on ALL Beef sales. So hopefully someone with not only the power but with some common sense will make the tough decisions but sort this out quickly so that our industry is not affected any worse than it already has.

 

 

 

 

Yes I know it's hard to believe but there is MORE FABRIC!

 
I have found that this is what happens when I have to place my moda orders up to 6 months in advance and then my favourite (only) rep that sees me blows through Dulacca and so it seems that it all suddenly arrives at once!

But it is all very exciting as well - Black and White is HUGE at the moment and I mean HUGE. I have ordered another range due in September of Black & WHite & REd - mmmmm yummy!

So here you have what has arrived within just the last week!!!

these gorgeous fat quarter bundles provide excellent value at $157 and including 10 metres of FABRIC so that is just $15.70/m and everything matches as they are from all the one range! 

Here is a vibrant but rich new range called Terrain - the yardage is to come!

 

This is one from the Cow Paddocks Shop favourite designer - they always produce these fresh, happy bright ranges and this one is Amelia!
 

Here is another great designer that has brought us "Grace" in lovely rich reds, greens, creams, beiges & browns!  SORRY GRACE HAS SOLD OUT SINCE PUTTING THIS ON THE BLOG YESTERDAY!!!

All jelly rolls just $42!! Which is $16.80/m!!!

 

 

These are the new Fusions Fat quarters - you can purchase these individually and are great when you are looking for just the right shade! These are american precut fat quarters so aren't quite as generous as the Cow Paddock version of a Fat Quarter but are still great!

 

The long awaited arrival of this range - for those of you that were here at Craft in the Country Jane had an absolutely gorgeous quilt made on black & white and green - and it really opened our eyes to the opportunity of what you can do with the black & white and "another colour" So here is the entire range of what we have all in the shop now - but be quick we have already sold quite a bit!

Plus with Black and White being HUGE everywhere - of course we have to get in on the action and here are some new ones plus in the next photo a few that have been here a little longer that will go with them easily!

 

All just $21/m! And sooooo gorgeous - note we have quite a few with the positive/negative which makes great quilts. Also we have a slight textural black on black also. The photo seriously doesn't do it justice and is just a little "different" See below!!

Then some fusions springs in lovely fresh spring light value colours - perfect for quilts of love, perhaps a spring french braid???
 

And another favourite design is this satinesque - we have had it in the black, red and I just couldn't resist this gorgeous hot pink!
 

So there you have it and we have sooo much more to come and more news - NEW classes, new projects/books and rulers! So stay tuned!

Clover Club Girls - at it Again!

We have had a couple of groups of the clover club girls visit since my return from Quilpie and they have been sooooo busy!

Here are some pics of what they have been working on!

 

This is a converging quilt that Virginia made and her mum Karen is holding it. Karen did the quilting on it with her new long arm machine utilising a pantograph that was very simliar in design to the print on the pink fabric. For a beginner long arm quilter - lets just say we are impressed!

 

 

Gwen's Star made from the gorgeous Aster Manor Moda range.  

Here is Pat's lovely star - can't wait to see them finished!!!

 

Here is Gwen's Stack N Wack - Gwen is our quiet Achiever of the Wednesday Group - she says she doesn't do much - just have a look at these amazing finished projects!

 

This is the quilt Gwen made for her grandson who is a mad fisherman - it has panel pieces but also photographs printed onto the Inkjet fabric of special fishing memories!

AND Rosalie from Rose Quilting did the quilting on it and it is just AMAZING!

 

This is a lovely soft kit that Neitta and her sister In Law Gladys have been working on one each.

 

 

Then our other groups have produced some amazing things too and here is Debra's latest projects!

 

Its hard to beat the classic black & white - and one other colour -  rumour has it there may be a challenge at a nearby club with this as there guide!!! Can't wait to see what comes from that!

 

And using the Accucutter - XLarge version Debra cut these Ricky Tims designs in a gorgeous pearlescent black (which I loooove) and put them onto a classic damask linen tablecloth - The photo just does not do it justice!

And of course it was great to catch up with all of the lovely ladies over the last few weeks. Now coming up is LOTS of new fabrics and SO WE NOW HAVE LOTS IN THE SPECIALS!!! So call in and have a look at the gorgeous fabric that we have placed on sale just so we can fit in all the new stuff - I just couldn't help myself - it was sooooooo nice.
