To everyone who was able to make it to Craft in the country for 2009 -  A HUGE THANKYOU ! And THANKYOU to the lovely people who were unable to make it on the day but continue to support our business!!!!!!!!!

Again this year we had a tremendous role up with over 100 bookings. Gorgeous quilts and projects in the show n tell section, lovely quilts on display and the Quilts of Love really out did themselves. A huge thankyou to those of you who also kindly donated the quilt of love for such a worth cause. In all we received 33 quilts to donate - an amazing effort!

We had lots of goodies for retail therapy with plenty of new fabric ranges and gadgets for everyone to check out. Greg Allen from Pleasuresew our guest speaker kept everyone amused with tales of ladies "oiling" their machines with vegetable oil and was a wealth of knowledge on machine needles & threads!

The day went so quickly and before we knew it ladies were heading off some with quite a distance to go! With those travelling from Barcaldine, Charleville, Crows Nest, Jandowae, Moonie, Hannaford, St George, Taroom plus more!!!

Some of the prizes on the day included the Quilt of Love Challenge kindly sponsored by Westalee Rulers and was won by Karen Rafton, Meandarra 1st & 2nd with third Prize to Melissa Scriven from St George.

In the Show N Tell Viewers Choice Neitta Gosper, Dulacca placed 1st & 2nd with Karen Rafton Meandarra 3rd.

The Dulacca Needles & Patches group challenge again Viewers' Choice - 1st Neitta Gosper - Dulacca, 2nd Audry Nielsen - Miles, & 3rd Elvira Hair - Miles.

The Early Bird First Prize was won by Del Johnson, Taroom. Plus we had many many wonderful prizes throughout the day with more early bird draws, lucky door prizes etc.

As you can see fun was had by all with some spectacular quilts on show. Craft in The Country Update

Well numbers are very high again this year and we thankyou for your ongoing support both of the shop, the tutoring and the open day. Due to unforseen circumstances there have been a couple of cancellations so for those of you still contemplating we still have some places available - but be quick they are sure to be snapped up and don't forget there are are only 17 SLEEPS TO GO!!!!

The day really provides great value at only $20/hd and we are sure to have another wonderful fun filled day!

Also don't forget the Quilt of Love Challenge - there are some great prizes up for grabs and just the feeling of knowing you have done something really special is wonderful.

Anyone wishing to have their machine serviced please lbook as soon as possible as Greg from Sew Help Me has some places still available.

Also Greg Allen assures me he will have some wonderful Country Specials on his range of Janome & Brother machines and quilt frames!

The Cow Paddock Shop will also have some great specials plus lots of new goodies to look at.

The Kindy has given me a sneak peak of the menu for the day and they have really outdone themselves! They will also have a raffle on the day.

The show n tell part of the day is always lots of fun so be sure to bring something along!

Places are filling Fast!

Just an update to let you know that if you are thinking of coming to our Craft in the Country open day on Saturday 16th May - the RSVP date is the 28th April, with an early bird draw with anyone booking and paying in full by the 1st April!

Be quick there are already approximately 80 booked!

Don't forget also the Quilt of Love Challenge! We are starting to receive some quilts for this already and you may choose just to donate or to have them compete for the viewers' choice award which has an amazing prize!

More on Craft in the Country

Hi everyone,

just a little update on the Craft in the Country - we have been fortunate enough to gain some sponsorship for the day - plus of course we are also giving away lots in appreciation to our customers ongoing support. But the goodies are arriving already and I'm sure everyone is going to looooove the sample bags, lucky door prizes, early bird draws etc etc

I have started posting out the hard copies of the brochures but be warned the day is nearly half booked out already - so if you are thinking of coming and haven't booked your spot with your $10 deposit please do so as I would hate for you to miss out!!!!!!

I know there are many of you out there working on your quilts of love for the day and I can't wait to see them!

There will be lots of new things for you to see & try so I am getting very excited already!

HOT OFF THE PRESS

As some of you may have heard by now that are on my email list we have named our surprise guest speaker for the Craft in the Country Open Day. It is Greg Allen from Pleasure Sew in Brisbane. Greg and his wife have kindly agreed to join us for the day and both are talented quilters. Greg is a lovely and extremely knowledgeable fellow who will be talking on a range of subjects including your sewing machine and taking care of it. Also he will be demonstrating and have Country Specials on Janome & Brother sewing machines, Can Quilt quilt frames and Happy Jack quilt frames. So if there is anything/model you may be interested in please let me know so that he can bring it for you to have a look at. Also he assures me he will have some wonderful specials for the day so if you are thinking about purchasing any of these items or their accessories I'm sure it would be advantageous to wait until the 16th May!.

Also in attendance will be Greg from the Sew Help Me green van for your Machine Servicing requirements. He will also be here on the Friday  for anyone wishing to drop their machines in prior to the open day and I will drop them in for him, - So if you wish you have your machine serviced please book in as it will be first in first served. There will also be a lucky prize for anyone who gets their machine/s serviced over either of these 2 days. Please note that he does both machines and overlockers.

I am working on the Craft in the Country Brochure as we speak so hope to have these out soon. If you know you are definately coming please book as early as you can as places are filling fast and we will be having a cut off point this year - so please secure your spot. Remember $20/hd ($10 upon booking) and the final $10 payable prior to the 28th April) For those wishing to be eligible for the early bird draw full payment is due by the 1st April, 2009. If attendees do not send full payment by the 28th April unfortunately we may not be able to guarantee their spot and payment on the day would total $30/hd. This is just so that we do not turn people away only to have those booked but not paid then not come - I'm sorry to have to have rules but we do not want anyone missing out. It also saves alot of extra paperwork on a day that is already very busy.

I am also pleased to announce that Westalee Designs that were finalists on the ABC Inventors programme have kindly donated the Prize for the Viewers Choice award for the Quilt of Love Challenge. They have very generously donated a Westalee ruler pack for the lucky person. So ladies get those little quilts started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As always we will have sample bags for everyone plus lots of really wonderful prizes including a Lucky Door prize of ............... - it's a secret - just yet. I just can't tell you - I like keeping you in suspense but no doubt if you pop into the shop in the next few weeks you may get a sneak peak!

Congratulations Karen

Just a quick one ladies but a very important one!

Congratulations to Karen from Meandarra who was one of our guest speakers for "Craft in The Cow Paddocks". Karen after her success at the Brisbane Exhibition in 2007 has done it again by gaining a third place with her own original design for a small quilt and quilted by herself entitled "Love's Rythym". Just a note: the winner of the class was Sue Dennis a professional art quilt designer/teacher who travels the world so Karen was in terrific company!

Craft Day Update

Over the next few months I will be giving sneak peaks into what we have planned for next year's "Craft In The Cow Paddocks" Day. As mentioned earlier it will be on Saturday 16th May, 2009. Cost is $40/head prepaid and $50 p/hd on the day but bookings are essential and numbers will be limited this year so get in early! Also there will be a special draw for those who book & pre-pay by 1st April, 2009.

So here is a little of what we are planning - this fee will include morning & afternoon teas, a light but delicious lunch & sample bag. We will have a mystery guest speaker plus lots of opporunities to view the latest fabric ranges and try the latest gadgets. There will be plenty of time to catch up with old friends and make some new ones and we will be having a non-compulsory CHALLENGE!

Now don't go getting all worried - I promise it will only be as demanding as you wish to make it. More details will come as mentioned but we are working on having a "Quilts of Love" Challenge. This will involve making small quilts for the families that have suffered the loss of a baby or those with premature or sick babies. Exact requirements will be published at a later date but get your thinking caps on. There will be prizes (of course!) and the quilts will be hung on the day for a lovely display and donated to the children's section of the hospital, where they will be greatly appreciated. This is a wonderful cause and the families find great comfort in receiving these items.

I am also looking into the "Stitching Angels" swap - once I get a little more computer savvy, I will keep you up to date with the happenings behind this wonderful idea.
